These days TV stars aren’t limited to doing projects only for TV. More and more artists are dabbling into other forms of art and media showcasing how well rounded and flexible they are. Being multi-media artists helps stars gain more fans and international recognition. An actress, who has successfully transcended the limiting boob tube, is young Mexican star Camila Sodi. This is not entirely surprising as the star really has the talents and the personality that will make her last in the industry. Camila Sodi, who showed her acting prowess in her first telenovela Inocente de Ti, is turning in great performances for the big screen as well.

Her latest project is Ninas Mal, a comedy about a rebellious 18-year old teenager that challenges her teachers at an all-girls charm school in Mexico City. Camila will play the supporting role of Pia, a nerd. The film, which also stars Martha Higareda and Blanca Guerra, is being directed by Fernando Sarinana. In one of her previous interviews, Camila said that she believes she delivered a very good performance in Ninas Mal, because she has been working really hard and that her role in the telenovela Inocente de Ti provided her with good training. Ninas Mal is currently under post-production and casts the following actors in the major roles: Maria Aura, Alejandra Adame and Ximena Sarinana. The other artists included in the film are: Daniel Berlanga, Humberto Busto, Roberto D Amico, Siana Golden, Victor Gonzales, Veronica Langer and Rafel Sanchez Navarro. The Ninas Mal, also known as “Charm School”, was written by Issa Lopez and will be released internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International. The movie was produced by Columbia Productions Mexico.

Camila Sodi also stars in a film being directed by famous actor Gael Garcia Bernal. The movie entitled Deficit will be released in 2007 and is Bernal’s directorial debut. The movie, currently in post-production stage, is an adaptation of an episode in the TV series Ruta 32. The family-gathering drama was shot in several locations in Mexico and casts the following actors: Fernanda Castillo, Luz Cipriota, Dagoberto Gama, Tenoch Huerta. Juan Pablo Medina, Ana Serradilla and Giovanna Zacarias. The movie is being produced by Canana Films, a new production outfit helmed by Bernal, Diego Luna and producer Pablo Cruz. Canana Films also produced Ruta 32.

Camila will also appear in the film El Bufalo de la Noche, a film about a man who commits suicide after finding out that his girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend. The movie was written by Guillermo Arriaga and Jorge Hernandez Aldana. Aldana also directed the film. El Bufalo de La Noche’s cast includes: Hugo Albores, Emilio Echevarria, Liz Gallardo and Diego Luna. The Night Buffalo is the movies’ English title.
